Websites are THE most cost-effective way to reach a myriad of markets in which to grow your business in 2008. The BIG question is, is yours measuring up to its full potential?

Is it making your phone and/or your cash register ring or is it just another bill to be paid? Now is a good time to do a assessment on your website to see if it is indeed an asset.

1) Do you have one?
Every business (and I mean every business) needs a website. It might be a simple one-page business snapshot or a complex sales & service website. Whatever the case, 67% of consumers and almost 90% of businesses are using the Internet to find products and services. If you are not there with a website, you may have effectively crossed yourself off the potential provider list. Consumers like to check you out without bothering with a call or a visit... (NOTE: a listing in an on-line directory or a MYSPACE page does NOT count!)

2) Does it fulfill its purpose and full potential?
Most websites serve some sort of marketing purpose, however most websites fail to make your phone ring because they fall short in one or more of these areas:

  • "Look & feel doesn't create a good first impression..." - We shouldn't judge a book by its cover, BUT WE DO! A cluttered, out-of-date or dated website will create a first impression, just not a GOOD one.
  • "Can't see the tree in the forest..." - Many websites provide too much information - a list of everything you do, pictures of every product you sell or pages of information make it difficult for someone to decide if you have what they need because they can't pinpoint it.
  • "Couldn't hit the broad side of a barn..." - If you have not pinpointed your target market, you will not hit any of them. A scattergun approach to marketing doesn't work in any medium, Targeted marketing strategies are easier to implement on the Internet because space is "unlimited" and you can devote a page or section of your site to each marketing message.

In addition, a website can save you time by handling Customer Service, make you money by generating on-line Sales and can be a integrated Business Asset instead of just on "on-line brochure".

3) Can consumers find it?
Seach engines have become the most common way for people to seek out what they need whether they are seeking a specific company, specific services or products, or just general information. If they Google, does your name appear among the options? And once they find you, will your phone or cash register ring? (See item 2 above).

So, take a GOOD, HARD look at your website from the vantage point of your customers. After all, your website is more about them. If you would like a FREE Dot Com Diagostic, CLICK HERE. We'd be happy to provide you with a professional opinion on how to get more out of your website.
