Rancho Cordova Holiday Ice Rink
A very special way to celebrate
The Rancho Cordova Holiday Ice Rink is an ambitious project to provide a community amenity for citizens, drive holiday business and entice visitors to the community, all offering a branding opportunity for the community. The Holiday Ice Rink’s first run began Nov. 11, 2011 and continued through Jan. 16, 2012.
COLLABORATORS
The Holiday Ice Rink was a broad collaboration of the Cordova Community Council with the City of Rancho Cordova, title sponsor Allstate Insurance and more than 30 other businesses which provided sponsorships, in-kind support and more. For 2012-13, the Cordova Community Council will bring advanced planning, enhanced special events and wider collaboration to what has presented an unusually rich opportunity for community engagement by citizens and image enhancement for Rancho Cordova business and civic interests.
ATTENDANCE
In its first year, the Rancho Cordova Holiday Ice Rink attracted approximately 30,000 visitors to the rink. Surveys show that while many visitors skated, a large number of visitors simply came to watch the skating, ride the giant Ferris Wheel and drink in the holiday atmosphere. Many of those visitors surveyed said they would like more amusement options and a 2012 Holiday Ice Rink project would include expanded offerings still being considered.
PUBLICITY
The Rancho Cordova Holiday Ice Rink was promoted through paid and earned newspaper, radio and television advertising, as well as far-reaching social media programs, including Living Social and the Sacramento Bee Deal Saver. The ice rink was visited multiple times by Sacramento television cameras and is credited with boosting attendance at the Christmas Tree Lighting event. A dedicated website at www.RanchoCordovaIceRink.com supports the rink by providing a ticket purchase link and on-going rink information.
Planning cycle for the 2012/13 rink begins in January. Sponsor deadline is Oct. 1 for inclusion in collateral materials, including publicity flyers, programs and volunteer gear. Event marketing is year-round on the Cordova Community Council and Holiday Ice Rink websites. Event marketing begins on Oct. 15 through the media and CCC e-newsletters program.

For 2012, sponsorship opportunities include:
