COLLABORATORS This vibrant holiday celebration is a happy collaboration with the Cordova Recreation and Park District, numerous Rancho Cordova faith communities, including ethnic performers who give our celebration a truly international appeal. This event is powered completely by volunteers from local civic associations and churches, led by the Cordova Community Council and a diverse planning group.
ATTENDANCE Moved to a new, hospitable venue at Village Green Park in 2008, the event and virtually all its features were free to the public. Turnout at the event was estimated at approximately 4,000 people of all ages, with a concentration of families with small children.
PUBLICITY and PLANNING This event is marketed to the community through local media and flyers distributed through the schools, the City Views newsletter and our own powerful e-news network.
Planning cycle begins in September, with sponsor deadline for collateral materials, including publicity flyers, programs and volunteer gear on Oct. 15. Event marketing begins with September City Views and CRPD publications and publicity campaign beginning Nov. 1.
VOLUNTEERS If you are a Christmas-lover, put that enthusiasm to work at this spectacular community collaboration! Volunteers are needed as performers, as stage dressers and tree-trimmers. If you can put up a string of lights, you can volunteer at this event! Watch for a call for volunteers in the late fall or email shelly@cordovacouncil.org.
SPONSORS In 2009, our major partner was the Cordova Recreation and Park District, with support from local businesses who participated with giveaways and booths at the event. Other sponsors included the City of Rancho Cordova, Beazer Homes, Brookfields Restaurant, Rubio's, Starbucks, Wing Stop and Chili's and the US Census Bureau.
In 2010, sponsorship opportunities include:
- Stage sponsorship
- Hay Ride sponsorship
- Steam Train sponsorship
- Kids Zone sponsorship
All offer business branding opportunities at a particularly joyous community gathering... during a particularly congenial time of year!
