Kid's Zone

July 3 & 4, 2012 - Hagan Park, Rancho Cordova

Kid's Zone

July 3 & 4 from 2 pm - 8 pm

Children are so important at the Rancho Cordova Fourth of July, we've given them a place to call their own: the KIDS ZONE! Presented by the Cordova Recreation and Park District, Folsom Cordova Community Partnership, and other sponsors, the KID'S ZONE combines old family favorites like the Petting Barn and Live Steamer Trains with a bunch of other entertainment to make the Fourth of July memorable for the younger set.

RIDE THE RAILS WITH SVLS
All aboard Rancho Cordova's award-winning Sacramento Valley Live Steamers (SVLS) Railroad for a Fourth of July journey back to a time when railroads were opening up the west.

The SVLS is a hobby club whose passion is railroads and whose mission is to keep alive the romance of the rails. They have been offering train rides at their location in Hagan Park for two generations of Rancho Cordova children. Some of the built-to-scale trains are powered by diesel and others by steam, but whatever the case, the ride is special. Take a close look at the intricate details and don't hesitate to ask the engineer questions. These guys love to share what they know about trains. You may even decide you are interested in joining this unique, service minded club. Check them out at www.svls.org.

PADDLE OR PEDAL?
Whether you paddle or pedal, you and your family will have fun on the "high seas" of the Hagan Park ponds. Back by popular demand, our Fourth of July Fleet awaits.
We provide the life jackets and you provide the fun... and pedal power. Head on over to the "Port of Rancho Cordova," and for $5 you set sail for a leisurely 15 minute boat ride that allows you to enjoy the park in a way that is available only at the Fourth of July Festival.

You will find the "Port of Rancho Cordova" as you make your way to the Sacramento Valley Live Steamers Railroad and Petting Barn. Ahoy!

TALK WITH THE ANIMALS!
You can talk with the animals, walk with the animals, even read with the animals at the Hagan Park Petting Barn during the Fourth of July Festival.

Rancho Cordova Girl Scouts and their leaders will also be offering storytimes at the Barn throughout the two days. Watch for announcements about the Reading Haystack!
