The American River Masonic Lodge is a community-centered organization that uses the fraternal brotherhood of Free and Accepted Masons to better their lives, families, and communities.
HISTORY
The Free and Accepted Masons is a fraternity of men that dates back to a time before recorded history. Its most noted precepts come from the story of the building of King Solomon's Temple, and it is said that Solomon was the first Grand Master. Over thousands of years, Masonry has been responsible for the construction of many valuable monuments and buildings and, more importantly, it has been responsible for the building of better men.
In 1956, two Master Masons discussed the need for a Masonic Lodge in their growing community of Rancho Cordova. With the help of numerous Masons, the American River Masonic Lodge was chartered in 1959. Although somewhat smaller than other local lodges, the Masons of the American River Lodge have been committed since the beginning to the Rancho Cordova community and participate in many local events, including the hosting of an annual Halloween Party for children at Hagan Park.
MASONRY TODAY
The Free and Accepted Masons has grown into a society of friends and brothers who, by following the Masonic teachings and keeping a faith in God, learn to be better men, fathers, husbands, neighbors, and citizens. Masons support each other because of their bond of friendship and beliefs in brotherly love, relief, and truth.
As a philanthropic organization, Masons spread relief all over the world. Locally, they better the community through supporting and funding Shriner's Children's Hospitals, eye research, programs for the learning disabled, Halloween haunted houses, scholarship programs, and teacher education.
The American River Masonic Lodge holds regular meeting on the first Friday of every month, with a potluck beginning at 7 p.m. and a meeting beginning at 8 p.m. The meetings are located at the Masonic Center located at 1000 Duchow Way in Folsom.
