Formed in January 2009, The Next Generation Golf Foundation (NGGF) is a non-profit, grassroots, community-based organization located in the Mather-Rancho Cordova-Sacramento metropolitan area.
The NGGF operates under the direction of a Administration Board of Trustees; two co-chairmen, one secretary, one treasurer, one media relations aide, and two committee members. NGGF receives legal assistance and accounting aid from volunteer professionals in those fields.
Each member of the NGGF board of trustees, share a equal vote on all NGGF policy and functions, in addition to equal time to present data to support their position on subject matter. Every topic of progressive interest for the youth we serve is voted for in an open forum and is rendered in a majority fashion and represents a common bond each board member shares towards the NGGF mission statement.
The NGGF requests that all youth we serve maintain or strive towards obtaining passing grades in their respective education institutions and successfully complete a essay to obtain the NGGF support. The NGGF welcomes youth from five years to 17 years of age that derive from the various social-economic backgrounds that make up our community. Our Mission Statement
The responsible people of the Sacramento Metro Area will simultaneously shoulder the concept, that through golf our community’s youth will embrace the ideal that “Opportunity follows struggle, it follows effort, it follows hard work. It does not come before.”
Our philosophy suggests that no community’s youth can fail, if the OPPORTUNITY to succeed is provided.
The Next Generation Golf Foundation is a active member of the Cordova Community Council and has plans to join the Rancho Cordova Chamber of Commerce by year’s end (2009). The NGGF has developed a close association with several Sacramento chapters of “The First Tee” junior golf programs, that has evolved into a valuable partnership that provides golf education, instruction, and training to the youth NGGF serves.
The NGGF also provides fundamental golf instruction to the youth through several golf course teaching professional throughout the Sacramento Area. The NGGF provides equipment (clubs, bags, balls) and practice time (free range tokens) to the youth we serve. In the near future, the NGGF and the Rancho Cordova Police Department, are working together to develop a golf component to the existing Rancho Cordova Police Department’s Police Activities League (PAL).
The Next Generation Golf Foundation has the foresight to understand the state of the nation’s economy and that the lack of public recreation programs can cripple our youths’ sense of responsibility for the diverse values that make up a community. Such a failure to provide support to our youth could result in our youth making negative, unhealthy social choices. The NGGF strongly believes and supports that through golf we could provide and encourage positive and healthy ideals and values that can benefit our community for years to come.
As a grassroots non-profit organization, the NEXT GENERATION GOLF FOUNDATION is receptive and invites any public/private donations, contributions, and support to aid our effort to provide a positive opportunity to our community’s youth. If our youth are the future, shouldn’t we as a community invest today?
