The NCOA enhances and maintains the quality of life for non-commissioned and petty officers in all branches of the Armed Forces, National Guard and Reserves.
The Association offers its members a wide range of benefits and services designed especially for current and former enlisted service members and their families, acting as a conduit between the military and civilian communities in local areas and promoting positive community relations.
HISTORY
The NCOA was established in 1960 with the understanding that many things of great need and importance can be accomplished in unity and cooperation. This has lead members to work together for the well being of the individual, the group, and for the benefit of the nation. In recognition of their work on behalf of military members, families, survivors, and veterans, the NCOA was granted a Federal Charter by the U.S. Congress in 1988, one of only a few veteran organizations to receive this distinction. This prestigious honor is testimony to the impact that the NCOA has had in enhancing the lives of non-commissioned and petty officers. The NCOA has continued to offer its members a wide range of benefits and services, believing in their mission statement of "Strength in Unity."
NCOA TODAY
Today, the NCOA remains a vital non-profit organization, working in the three primary areas of legislative representation, social and fraternal programs, and member benefits. The association works continuously to preserve, protect, and enhance the entitlements, benefits, and privileges earned through military service, focusing its legislative effort in the areas of compensation, benefits and quality of life issues. The NCOA also offers financial assistance to members in the form of academic scholarships, educational grants, assistance with medical expenses and disaster relief funds. The Veterans Employment Assistance Program is offered free of charge to all veterans, and includes job fairs and a resume database.
