Cordova Community Council
|
|
Since it was founded in 1959, the Cordova Community Council has served as a meeting place to discuss the future of Rancho Cordova. We firmly believe that every great city has great community organizations. Fifty-two years ago, in what can only be described as an explosion of civic enlightenment, forward-thinking individuals in the infant community of Rancho Cordova set about the business of organizing themselves.
Fifty-two years ago, in an explosion of civic enlightenment, forward-thinking individuals in the infant community of Rancho Cordova set about organizing themselves. After founding a Rotary Club, the Chamber of Commerce, the Cordova Recreation and Park District and a handful of churches, this same group of folks thought they needed more.
Where would community builders meet to discuss the future of their new town and plan common activities, like a Fourth of July celebration? They formed a unique "organization of organizations" and christened themselves the "Cordova Community Council." That legacy of mutual support and collaboration has become a hallmark of Rancho Cordova community life for the past five decades.
Today, as the Cordova Community Council leaps into its second half century, it remains true to those original goals. Together with the City of Rancho Cordova and sister organization, the Rancho Cordova Chamber of Commerce, the Cordova Community Council has spread its wings to help Rancho Cordova soar to even greater heights. That effort was rewarded in 2010 when Rancho Cordova was named an "All-America City" by the National Civic League, affirming the work that has taken place and establishing a high bar for future accomplishments.
The Cordova Community Council Foundation is recognized by the federal government as a bona fide 501 (c) 3 public benefit non-profit organization. It resides within Rancho Cordova City Hall -- and in the inspiring work of its many member organizations and active citizen members.
You are cordially invited to join us in this exciting effort that harnesses the powerful volunteer spirit that has always moved our community forward. On the pages that follow you will find information that sets forth our plans for 2012 -- our 53rd year.
