The 3 C's of Internet Marketing: COLLABORATION

If give a man to fish, he eats for a day. If you teach a man to fish, he eats for a lifetime. If you learn to fish with others, you eat for a lifetime AND you don?t have to go fishing EVERY DAY! Collaboration paired with cost-effective marketing strategies means less out-of-pocket and more profit in your pocket!

The old adage of "divide and conquer" is very apropo when applied to your marketing budget. This strategy simply is to collaborate with businesses that have the same target market as you, combine your marketing campaigns and divide the expense.
 
Industry specific magazines are examples of marketing platforms that allow business to reach a large audience without all the expense of doing it on your own. And quite often the audience is more receptive to your information because they are already qualified by virtue of their subscription to that magazine. Industry or demographic specific websites offer a very similar platform, where traffic is already prequalified and therefore more likely to convert.
 
In these two situations, the down-side is that you are right next to much of your competition. Another strategy is to have a limited number of listings of businesses that have the same target market as you but offer different, non-competive products or services. The cost might be a little more for the exposure you get but the return you get might outweigh that limitation.
 
By the way, it might be a good idea to try both strategies and see which works best for you. You can alway drop the one that's not working or keep them BOTH if each is doing well for the cost involved. Again, it's all goes back to "knowing your numbers".
