21st Annual Kids Day in the Park

21st Annual Kids Day in the Park

SPONSORS and EXHIBITORS are currently being accepted for Kid's Day in the Park 2010, set for April 24 in beautiful Hagan Park! Be part of Rancho Cordova's special event geared especially to children ages 0 to 12 and their families.

Kids Day in the Park is a festival geared to families of small children and the goal is good health.  While Kids Day is promoted and planned as a fun day of activities for small children and their families, it is also health fair with providers on hand to engage parents and provide information.  Target group is children 12 and younger and their parents.

COLLABORATORS
Kids Day in the Park is a broad partnership of numerous health providers in the community. Major players include Five 5 Commission, Sacramento State University, Folsom Cordova Unified School District and healthcare providers such as Kaiser Permanente. In 2009, more than 60 exhibitors participated, with each providing a free activity for children at their booth. This is a volunteer-powered event.

ATTENDANCE
Kids Day in the Park is a longstanding event. Traditional attendance was approximately 1,200, but the addition of a lively Kid's Stage and hay rides to the far end of the park, plus aggressive publicity resulted in a four-fold increase in turnout in 2009. Rancho Cordova Police Department estimated attendance at 4,000 children and their families. The event is free of charge.

PUBLICITY and PLANNING
The event was marketed to the community through local media and 20,000 flyers distributed through the schools and preschools throughout Rancho Cordova.

Planning cycle begins in February, with sponsor deadlines for collateral materials, including publicity flyers, programs and volunteer gear (t-shirts) March 26. Event marketing begins April 1.

Kids Day in the Park enjoyed strong support in the local media, and colorful coverage post-event, including a photo essay in The Grapevine Independent.

VOLUNTEERS
Volunteers are needed to assist with the planning, set-up, operation and wrap-up of the event. Local entertainment is also sought for the Kids Day Stage. If you are interested in participating as a volunteer or have an appropriate entertainment offering, please contact Shelly Blanchard at 273-5704. Volunteer recruitment will become active in March.

SPONSORSHIP
2009 sponsors for Kids Day in the Park included: First 5 Sacramento, Kaiser Permanente, Sacramento State University, Rancho Cordova Police Activities League, Folsom Cordova Unified School District and numerous health care providers participating in First 5 programs.

For 2010, sponsorship opportunities are almost without boundaries. Included are:

  • Kids Stage sponsorship
  • Kid Stage entertainment sponsors
  • Hay Ride sponsors
  • Live Steam Train sponsors
  • Hagan Park Petting Barn sponsors
  • Kids Day Program
  • Kids Day Signage
  • Activity sponsors: with additional sponsorships, the Kids Day in the Park could bring in educational health-related exhibits, toys and projects. The opportunities are endless.

Kids Day in the Park is a wonderful gathering of our community's youngest children and their parents, all in search of a fun day together. Along the way they receive information to lead healthy, happy lives in Rancho Cordova. If healthy, happy kids is your mission, Kids Day in the Park is your event.
