I went to the event tonight and I was so blessed. I appreciated all the hard work it took to put this wonderful event together. I cannot wait for the next one? Do we have a date yet? I would like to participate also.

Highlights

COLLABORATORS
Celebration of Faith is a partnership of faith leaders in Rancho Cordova who plan the event and engage members of their congregations and the community in focusing on common values. The 2009 event included representation from more than one dozen Rancho Cordova churches. The event gave birth to the first-ever Rancho Cordova Community Chorus, which featured 100 voices from many church choirs. Theme of the 2009 celebration was "Prayers for our Nation" which had broad appeal and a patriotic "Salute to the Armed Forces."

Event management and planning assistance was provided by the Cordova Community Council. Admission was free of charge.

ATTENDANCE
Celebration of Faith was rebranded by the Cordova Community Council this year to broaden its appeal. The result was a surge in attendance from about 100 at annual Prayer Breakfasts to an estimated 1,000 at Celebration of Faith. Attendance was family-oriented, with strong representation by the senior citizen community.

PUBLICITY and PLANNING
The event was marketed to the community through the local media and 20,000 high quality flyers inserted in the newspaper and distributed through local churches, mainly as inserts in church bulletins. The local parochial school sent home the flyers with their students.

Planning cycle begins in June, with sponsor deadlines for collateral materials, including publicity flyers, print advertising, programs and volunteer gear July 15. Event marketing was carried out in the faith community in particular and larger community, as well.

Celebration of Faith enjoyed strong support in the local media and colorful coverage post-event, including a front page photo and story in the Grapevine Independent.

VOLUNTEERS
A wide variety of volunteer tasks need to be addressed at Celebration of Faith. Volunteers are needed to assist in fund-raising, set-up, program distribution, parking management and general event assistance. This is a wonderful way to experience your faith in the community. A call for volunteers will be made in July, or contact Shelly Blanchard at shelly@cordovacouncil.org. If you wish to be part of the Community Chorus, please let us know!

SPONSORS
All sponsors for this re-branded event were private individuals and the Cordova Community Council. In the future, it is anticipated that the faith community and those who are affiliated with it, will support this event with sponsorships.

For 2010, sponsorship opportunities include:

  • Stage sponsorships
  • Event sponsorships
  • Advertising sponsorships

Celebration of Faith represents a successful rebranding of an event specially designed to engage Rancho Cordova's large and diverse faith community. These well-organized and established organizations are important connectors in the Rancho Cordova community with large, committed memberships interested in improving the city in which they live and worship.
